Central Park used to have a reputation as a rough and dangerous place years ago, but these days it is a quite amazing place to hang out in the summer time. If you stick with the lower side and keep to daylight hours then you should be able to enjoy the beautiful summer weather in the park.

I used to walk to and from work through Central Park a few years ago and expect in the summer months to see:

Dozens of roller-bladers learning, getting fit and sometimes themselves travelling this way to work.

Several people out in boats on the lake.

People playing instruments and practicing to play in different corners and places.

A number of people playing sports including a spot of baseball, throwing a footbal around or kicking a soccer ball around.

Sunbathers using the vast space to enjoy some relaxation.

Joggers using the very large central lake as a route for running around.

Tourists visiting well-known parts such as Strawberry Fields.

Central Park is almost like a mini city in its own way. I cannot think of anyway better on a sunny day and it is one of the things I love about living here!!!

For Romance Paris is hard to beat but New York is becoming not just a city know for it’s apple pie, modern art, shopping and theatre. Below you’ll find a list of places to take your love one the next time you visit this great city.

The very top of the Empire State Building, 350 Fifth Avenue at 34th Street (212-736-3100), could be New York’s City’s most famous romantic spot. On a clear day, you’ll have fantastic views across the city. It’s often cold up there so it’ll give you a good excuse to get close to each other.

Oysters are an afrodisiac and what better way to feed the love is to eat oysters at the Grand Central Oyster Bar beneath Grand Central station. This is a gorgeous spectacle, with its vaulted arches, its white-tiled

Empire State

ceiling and church-crypt ambience. Grand Central Terminal, Lower Concourse (42nd Street at Park Avenue, 001 212 490 6650)

If grass and trees is more your idea of romance, take a handsome cab ride through Central Park. No one could resist snuggling up in the back of a plush horse-drawn carriage while enjoying the wonderful Central Park. Cabs can be got at 59th Street (Central Park South) at 5th Avenue.

In a concrete city, there are some wonderful green spaces beckoning for romance. Apart from the obvious Central Park, take a look at some of the botanical gardens in all the boroughs, from Queens to Staten Island.

Eating in New York is a past time for all inhabitants and there’s nothing like strolling the streets of Manhattan and “stumbling” upon a place to eat. Many of the restaurants in Greenwich village are cosy and steeped in history.

Take a trip to Hotel Mount Vernon Hotel Museum which is one of the oldest buildings in Manhattan. Their guided tour offers an interesting trip through beautiful rooms and a garden.

Wollman is a better location and more intended for recreationists, while Lasker really is great for pro skating and hockeying. However, the most beautiful place is Rockefeller Center. From November to early January you are able to skate in the middle of the city between all the skyscrapers. It is difficult to not get in the Christmas mood.

NYC is a city where there really is just so much to do and see that it can actually be difficult to decide what to add to the schedule. Below my 10 favourite things to do and see in New York City.

1. The Empire State – It reall does offer an excellent view of NYC and puts the whole of Manhattan into perscpective for you.

2. Central Park – is well worth walking around in the daytime and the bottom half is relatively safe and there is a lake for boating and in winter a skating area.

Broadway in NYC

3. The Rockafella is another very famous area and in the winter this location is also great for skating.

4. Macy’s – is a massive store and if you liek shopping this is a must.

5. Time Square- just being in Time Square is a cultural and enjoyable experience.

6. NYC Giants and the Mets - I’d highly recommend going to see an American Football or baseball game.

7. Bronx Market – On a weekend the Bronx market is excellent and well worth visiting for many bargains.

8. The Natural History Museum – is one of the worlds best museums.

9. The Guggenheim Museum is excellent.

10. Broadway – Just walking up and down Broadway and enjoying th shops and restauarants and also a theatre performance make NYC the place to be.
